In the year 2020, a young musician from New York City named Sean Murphy began creating his own soundscapes for a music video.
Inspired by the popular video game franchise Resident Evil, he used a mix of synth and drums to create a futuristic, futuristic-sounding techno-pop soundscape.
After two years of painstaking work, Murphy released a demo in early 2018.
His demo, entitled “Mysterious,” won the Audience Award at this year’s SXSW Festival, and he’s currently working on another project, called “The World of Me,” which is a reimagining of the first three Resident Evil games.
Murphy, who is the frontman for indie band The Mowgli Club, said he hopes to share “Mystery” with as many people as possible through his new album, The World of Us.
“There’s a lot of bands doing their own stuff,” Murphy said.
“I think that it’s kind of fun to be a part of the music community, to be able to get out and create something for people who maybe don’t know about the genre.”
