From the moment they arrive at the ground, each squad is subjected to a different set of expectations.
The Premier League is full of players who want to make the most of the chance to make a name for themselves.
They have to show they can get on the ball and do what they do best.
But then there are those who are there to win trophies, who are determined to win and are willing to put in extra work to ensure they can achieve it.
It is this last group that is known as the “big three” of English football, and they have been on the pitch at the highest levels for decades.
This is a list that includes Arsenal, Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea.
Each of these clubs has had a history of success in the Premier League and, in their own way, it has helped shape their success.
This is why the success of Liverpool and Arsenal has not been a case of one team doing well and the other struggling.
As such, the big three have always been able to achieve what is best for their club, and to a large extent they have.
The best Premier League side of all time was Chelsea.
They won the league twice in a row from 2005-11, but the success came after a difficult spell at the end of the last decade.
In the same period, Arsenal were relegated from the top tier and were then bought by a consortium led by Chinese billionaire Wang Jianlin, who has made an immense amount of money in the past decade.
This was the first time that Arsenal had failed to win a trophy in over a decade and in the years since, they have not been the same side they once were.
This season, they are set to become the first team to reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League and are in pole position to do so with a run that includes a draw against Manchester United.
This season, the Premier Loons have a record of 15 wins, two draws and three defeats, but that does not mean they have failed to get a result.
They are currently second in the table, just behind Real Madrid, with nine points from six games.
It is an encouraging trend, but they are not alone in their struggles.
While the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City are still performing in the top three, there is a clear lack of consistency in the competition.
This has been particularly apparent this season.
Arsenal are one of the best sides in the league and they are one step ahead of their opponents.
They can score goals, create chances and score goals at the same time.
This does not always translate into results, as they have only won two games in a stretch of games.
This form has seen them qualify for the knockout stages of the Europa League and the FA Cup, but also to the semi-finals and the final.
They were knocked out in both of those games.
Arsenal have been able, despite not being in the Europa league, to progress through to the quarter finals, but only after taking one point from a solitary game in that group.
Chelsea and Manchester United are the two teams who have managed to get off to the best starts in the English game.
Both have won the Premier league, but have only managed to achieve a draw at the start of the season.
The only exception is that United have only lost once and that was against Arsenal, and in that match they drew 2-2 on aggregate.
It has been a disappointing season for both clubs, with Mourinho leaving Chelsea in the summer, and Mourinho’s side struggling to establish themselves at the top of the table.
